Many bicycles are offered in a pre-determined configuration. That is simple, but as a result you sometimes have to accept a gear, colour, riding position or specification that does not entirely suit your intended use.

Velo de Ville chooses a different approach. The brand starts from a base model and allows part of the configuration to be personalised. The possibilities vary per bicycle, but may include the frame type and frame size, the colour, the motor, the gears, the battery and certain components of the equipment.

Customised bicycles, made in Germany

 

The story of Velo de Ville begins in 1966 in Altenberge, near Münster. Over the years, personalisation has grown to become an important part of the brand's identity.

The bikes are customised individually and then assembled in Germany. Velo de Ville also has its own powder-coating facility, enabling the brand to offer an extensive range of colours and finishes.

Thanks to this made-to-order production, each model does not need to be limited to a few standard configurations. This allows the bicycle to be tailored more precisely to its intended use: city riding, commuting, bike rides, unpaved paths or longer distances.

Having lots of options doesn’t automatically mean a better bike. A configuration needs to remain balanced.

A powerful motor is not necessary for every ride. A larger battery adds extra weight and costs. Very sporty gearing does not always suit city use. On the other hand, certain comfort or transport features can become essential when the bike is used daily.

It is our job to help you make the right choices, without adding unnecessary options.

The result must be a bicycle that you can ride pleasantly today and which at the same time remains suitable for regular, long-term use.

Can a Velo de Ville be fully personalised?

The options vary by model. The colour, frame type, gears, motor and certain items of equipment can be personalised, but not all combinations are technically possible.

Can I test ride a Velo de Ville at Supercycles?

Some models and sizes may be available for a test ride. Before your visit, please check our online stock or contact us to verify whether the bicycle you are interested in is available in the store at that time.

What is the delivery time for a personalised bicycle?

The delivery time depends on the model, the colour, the chosen components and the production capacity at the time of the order.

In the configurator, Velo de Ville uses a colour code to indicate the availability of each component:

  • Green: The part is immediately available and the bike can usually be delivered within 2 to 6 weeks.
  • Yellow the part is being restocked and delivery may take 6 to 12 weeks.
  • Red The part is currently out of stock and the delivery time may exceed 12 weeks.

One yellow or red component can extend the delivery time of the complete bicycle. In some cases, a different configuration or an equivalent component can shorten the waiting time.

Before confirming your order, Supercycles will check the availability of the chosen parts and provide you with an up-to-date delivery time estimate.
